Ancient Egypt through the eyes of my children: King Tut and Queen Nefertiti

We have a fantastic art teacher! She's an amazing woman who loves to teach our children and loves history and has combined the two beautifully. Here, the children made a clay mold of Queen Nefertiti and King Tut's heads. They then cut out the headpieces from cardboard and our fantastic teacher, who was about to have her 4th child, covered them with paper mache. At the next class the children were able to paint them and bring them home. Lovely!

We left it in the ground for a day but couldn't really see it or the orange one in the corner from inside the house.

There are others growing, but these are the first.

CTM seemed to me more like an artist than a hungry boy preparing his breakfast. The colours in this bowl struck me with such force that I just had to take some photos. Poor guy just wanted to eat! It seemed to me that he had arranged the fruit since it almost had the shape of a wagon wheel or flower, but no he had not. He did admit that sometimes he does.
Isn't that something that so many of us adults forget? Joy in the moment, delight with simple things: these bring abundance to our lives.

BTG gave a lovely explanation to me of this picture:

I learned that goldfish flowers when they are ripe, they are bright orangey-red and then when they get older, their bulb kind of shrinks and the seed inside them isn’t in the middle of the flower anymore. And then when they shrivel up and die they fall off the plant.

With this, I discovered that it grows in bunches of two or three together. And I also discovered that it was very hard to draw.

Last summer, BTG sat on a log in the backyard and drew this sketch of the neighbouring farm. She concentrated especially on getting the shadows right.
